Shopping
- Jessica's Biscuit - Best Cookbook Shop Online - My favorite online shop to buy cookbooks (and I have a ton!). I have ordered from them many times - online now, but I have also used their mail order catalog to order since way before the internet existed.
- Book Sale Finder - Click the map to find local book sales upcoming in your area. I like this for the numerous used library book sales that are listed.
- Current Catalog - Best Wrapping Paper - I like to shop here for my gift wrap, gift bags, ribbon, and some of my scrapbooking supplies. They also have boxed greeting cards, and cute, inexpensive decorative items, kitchen gadgets, etc. Lots of good sales too.
Web Surfing
- KillerStartups - Every day they review up to 30 websites that are new on the internet. You can vote for the one you think will be "killer". I like this as a way to find cool new sites.
Surveys(I think taking surveys online is one of the easiest ways to make a little extra cash without too much trouble - I have joined many of these survey sites, I'm only going to list my very favorites here.)
- Your2Cents® Online Opinion Panel - Earn $1 to $5 each time you qualify and complete a survey (plus you get an entry into the $5,000 cash giveaway for each survey even if you try and don't qualify). I like this survey site a lot, especially since I earned a little money taking a few surveys, claimed my check, and received it really quickly - that I like! (for the U.S., 18+)
Charities
- Free Rice - Help End Hunger - Play this online vocabulary game by clicking on the answer that you think best defines each word. Try to get to the highest vocabulary level you can. BIG BONUS: for each word you get right, they donate 20 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program to help end hunger.
- Alex's Lemonade Stand - Help fight childhood cancer.
Fun
- Line Rider Online - Fun drawing game where you draw lines to create a ski track with slopes, jumps, etc - then you watch a virtual sledder ski down it! I am still working out how to make a good track and keep your guy from crashing and the like; this is hard but addicting fun.
- TizMe - Just For Fun - Create a virtual image of yourself (or your ideal cartoon self, rather), friends, your kids, or other family members. Post on websites, your MySpace page, your Blog, wher'ever.
- Doodle Too - A big multiplayer/group blackboard you can doodle on in all the colors of the rainbow. Well, this may seem like very silly fun - but sometimes I just like to unwind for a few minutes and doodle here (this has the feel to me like the teacher's left the classroom and the kids have taken over the blackboard - kind of a hoot).
- The Age Project - Guess the Age Game - Look at a person's photo and guess how old they are - after guessing you see their real age, plus the average of all guesses. Pretty addictive - add your own photo if you want to know how old people think you look!
